Reason for Leaving – Redundancy
During my time at Light Initiative, I had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of high-profile TV shows and projects both across the UK and internationally. Notable highlights include MDL Beast (Saudi Arabia), Strictly Come Dancing, and Squid Game: The Challenge (Seasons 1 & 2).
In my role as Site Technician, I was responsible for product testing of both new and existing equipment, which allowed me to develop an in-depth understanding of Light Initiative products. This expertise enabled me to efficiently identify and resolve issues or faults. Additionally, I frequently worked as part of the installation team, overseeing Gaffer installations to ensure that all projects were completed swiftly and to the highest standards.​​

While working on-site for these events, I frequently collaborated with multiple departments to ensure smooth operations. This experience greatly enhanced my communication and problem-solving skills, allowing me to effectively address challenges as they arose.
Squid Game: The Challenge

During this show I was responsible for the selection and triggering of the SFX blood backs (squibs) while managing the team onsite. Ensuring that all 456 squibs were always ready to be armed at short notice, demonstrating my ability to work well under the intense pressure of the gallery.

This event has consistently been one of my favourites to work on, as it challenges me to think creatively while working with a limited lighting rig. Over the years, the British Music Embassy (BME) stage has grown significantly, expanding from just 12 fixtures to over 50 in recent years. As the lighting designer for this festival, it has served as an excellent platform for me to refine my busking techniques, all while lighting more than 300 of the UK’s emerging artists over the past four years.

I greatly enjoyed contributing to this project as part of the Light Initiative build team, where I played a key role in creating the custom double-sided LED set pieces for the UK entry at Eurovision 2022 in Bradford. Additionally, I travelled to Turin, Italy, to assist with the on-site installation of the UK set piece, as well as the installation of the Austrian set pieces.

This event required me to supervise a team of 3 people while setting up a PA system, running power and building a stage while the sound one was setting up the sound desk. After the set up was complete I was then in charge of all 15 radio mics for the duration of the all-day event.
